What a year it's been! I normally would write this blog a few days from now, but, anymore, I never know what life is going to throw at me.
We started last year with Bob being unemployed. Nothing new for us, mind you...that's the life of an electrician...you simply work yourself right out of a job. It's a scramble to get these projects up and going and once they are, the job is done. We're ending 2012 the exact same way. There were multiple jobs in between, so no worries there.
We were adopted by a new kitty this last year and we welcome KiKi into our home, although, it took me months to coax her in. Dave pitches a fit every now and then, but Dave can get over it. Dave was ill, she went to the vet and is now back to her feisty old self.
Puppa Dog had his first epileptic seizure last May. He had his second in July, one in September, one in October and then one in December. He started on potassium bromide at the beginning of December to try to control these. It is the scariest thing ever to watch an 80+ pound dog go into a grand mal seizure. Sasha is doing just fine, although, her latest thing is taking my slippers up to bed with her. They are her "babies" or something. It's aggravating when you want to put them on, though!!
I've made a ton of new friends and acquaintances over the last year and I've had to weed out a few toxic people from my life. I'm a much more relaxed and pleasant person and much better off because of it.
Bob and I made a pell-mell trip across 5 states over the Labor Day weekend to meet one of you blog readers (and my BFF) in person in Fort Collins, CO. We only got to spend a day and a half...not nearly long enough. On our way back to Washington, at the kind and generous suggestion of another blog reader, Paradykes, we stayed overnight with them in Ogden. Sadly, their family's house was lost in a fire earlier this month.
I've gotten back in contact with my sisters and a brother and nieces and nephews and my family has grown by leaps and bounds. We were never a close knit family, but it's nice to be contact while we all let each other play our own gig.
Bob and I got a new to us car that actually allows us to travel around with some ease of mind and my crappy old truck has been retired. As soon as we can dig into storage to find some car titles, we have the truck and our broken down blue Dodge that are going to the scrap yard.
Oh, yeah...Bob got his driver's license back after I don't know how many years and I haven't driven in months!!
One of the biggest changes in the last year was me shutting down the Life in an RV Facebook page. Then I decided to buy my own domain for this blog and change the name. Out with the old and in with the new...that's the way to go. Since I mainly blog about cooking, I wanted the name to be short, sweet, to-the-point, yet, quirky...so that is how Baked Lava came about.
I do plan on getting back to international cooking after the first of the year...I was just really overwhelmed this year with all the Christmas baking/cooking that I had to do. It's done now and the only thing I have left is Ralph's birthday ham dinner on the 31st. I think I may get drunk after that...the jury is still out on that one.
Bob and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary and we went to the theater and saw The Hobbit. We came to hear that 26 people were shot and killed in Newtown. Our hearts still go out to Newtown. We will never forget. How could we???
So with all that being said, I do like to try to list a few goals that I plan to accomplish in 2013.
1. I'd like reach 500 followers on this blog. It's not an unreasonable goal and with all of you networking the name out...we can do this thing!!
2. I'd like to finally get rid of ALL the cigarettes. I am on Chantix...I smoke about 5 cigarettes a day. I just can't seem to get rid of those 5 cigarettes, though.
3. I'd like to cut down to 3 cups of coffee a day instead of 3 pots.
4. I'd like to finally get writing my ebook and get that published.
5. I'd like my Facebook page to reach a 500-1000 following.
6. I'd like to finally get out of this over-inflated sardine can and into a regular house!!
Anyhow, there they are. I hope you all have a great rest of 2012 and a rockin' 2013!! Peace!
With all its ups and downs and many changes we have made it thru another year! Thank you for all you share with us.
ReplyDeleteI should be thanking YOU, bunky!!
DeleteStick with the Chantix! I was a 2 1/2 pack a day smoker for years and I went on Chantix, twice. The second time worked for me and it will be 5 years, smoke free, for me this October! Yeah for me:) It was one of the hardest things I have ever done! Still want one, once in awhile:) Hang in There~You can do it~ Lynn H from Turnips 2 Tangerines~
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lynn...it really does help to hear from someone who has been there and done that!! Thanks for stopping by and, BTW, loved looking at your blog!!
