Kielbasa and Cabbage in an RV

 Austerity Dinner #9.
Oh, and I didn't cook last night at all because I wound up in the emergency room. I just had an orange and some cottage cheese. A stupid, simple cold turned into a monster for me because I have asthma. OY! I've made this plea on all my other social media outlets and I'll do it here, too....if you are sick, PLEASE STAY HOME AND TAKE CARE OF IT!
I had all the ingredients on hand to make Kielbasa and Cabbage. This is a recipe from Allrecipes.com and to view it, just click on the name and it will take you right there. I did fool around with the amounts of the ingredients, though. For starters, I only used 2 teaspoons of caraway seeds and I used about 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes.
I also used 4 cloves of garlic because we like garlic.
I had half a head of cabbage and I figure that amount was sufficient to prepare this recipe.
I kept the amount of onion the same.
I used an all beef smoked sausage that was hanging around in the freezer...
When Bob says, "You can definitely make this recipe again!"...I know it's a keeper.
HOLY YUM!
Enjoy...PEACE!

  1. AWESOME photos! We make kielbasi a lot here. Usually with kraut, but Laurrie, your fresh cabbage and garlic and onions sounds awesome.

    1. That's how I usually make them, too, Brooke...with sauerkraut. I don't think I'll do the sauerkraut again...I'll save that for hot dogs from now on.

  4. Great idea to use cabbage instead of kraut. Not a fan of sauerkraut but this I would make and eat!

    1. I love homemade sauerkraut but not too hip on the store bought stuff. So, needless to say, I don't eat kraut much at all.

    1. It's funny that you said that, Perri, because I wound up making this again a few nights ago and I added in some red potatoes. I thought about carrots but then I thought, "No..." but...now that you've said something, I'm going to definitely make this again, as it's one of our favorites, and add in the carrots. Thanks!!
