Chicken Curry with Coconut Milk, Quatre Epices, White Rice, Hearts of Palm Millionaire's Salad, and Ladob Banan. Click on any recipe name to view the recipe...well, except for the rice...you can click on that all day and you'll stay right here on this page. Above is the jar of Quatre Epices that I made. It has such a fantastic smell. I've dedicated a spice jar to this mixture and I'll always have it on hand to sprinkle on chicken or pork. It's wonderful!
The capital and largest city is Victoria. The official languages are French, English and Seychellois Creole.
The climate is equable, although humid. The temperatures throughout the year vary little and hover between 75-86 degrees. The trade winds blow regularly from May-November, making these months the most pleasant time of the year. Most of the islands of Seychelles lie outside the cyclone belt so high winds are rare.
Seychelles is made up of 42 granitic islands. There are 2 coral sand cays that lie to the north of the granitic islands. 2 coral cays are south of the granitic islands. The Amirantes Group contains 29 coral islands and lies west of the granitics. The Farquhar Group is made up of 13 coral islands and lies south-southeast of the Amirantes Group. There are 67 raised coral islands west of the Farquhar Group.
The main natural resources are fish, copra, cinnamon, coconuts, salt and iron.
Seychellois society is mainly a matriarchal society. Mothers rule the roost.
Groceries for tonight's meal ran me $29.87. $20 alone was for spices...spices are expensive! I even bought bulk where I could. Oy. The Beach Bag total after cooking from the 90th country is $219.44. Make sure to vote for country #92 by scrolling up to the top, just under the big volcano picture and looking to the left. There's a poll there. You all get to choose the country, I don't...I'm cool with that. Everyone voted quite a while back and the next country will be Suriname.
So, until we meet up in Suriname...PEACE!
